Volunteer
Are you a student who needs community service credits? Do you care about preserving Ventura's hillsides and Two Trees landmark? Please consider giving some of your valuable time and unique skills to help our hillsides.


Adopt-A-Park Arroyo Verde Park Beautification Volunteer: This volunteer opportunity is in Arroyo Verde Park about once every other month at a pre-determined date for our Partner's In Progress Adopt-A-Park partnership with the city of Ventura to help clean up trails and public areas. Volunteers will be amply rewarded with delicious snacks and cool beverages - juice, water and sodas. We will also have gloves, bags and pickup tools. Saturday Morning Ventura Farmer's Market Volunteer
Volunteer for a quick two-hour shift being the friendly face of the Ventura Hillsides Conservancy at an upcoming farmers market. You would be promoting the VHC, selling VHC caps, tote bags, note cards and wristbands and recruiting members and volunteers.  Time slots available are 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. to noon. The Ventura Farmer's Market is located on Santa Clara Street, between Palm and Oak Streets. Event Booth Volunteer (Community Outreach): Interact with the public by staffing VHC booth at events in a two-hour shift; promote VHC, sell merchandise, and recruit members and volunteers. Grant Writer :
The Ventura Hillsides Conservancy is looking for a grant writer to help the Board of Trustees identify development opportunities and author successful bids for grant monies. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org.

Business Donor Manager: Administer database of business donations of cash and in-kind services for future solicitations, recognition and thank you letters. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org.

Conservation Planning Team Member: prepare materials for habitat section of web site, review and prepare grant proposals and other VHC documents addressing biological issues and provide technical information to VHC Board. Correspondence Secretary: Compose thank you letters from VHC board of trustees to various volunteers, individuals and organizations; write letters/notes using neat, legible penmanship. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org.

Educational Outreach Planning Team Member: With a small group of others, led by the Educational Outreach Project Manager, plan and execute public events that are family-oriented and educate the community on the natural history of the hillsides and the Conservancy’s the goals. Fundraising Coordinator: chair the Fundraising Committee and coordinate its activities; work with key volunteers responsible for grants, the Ventura Hillsides Music Festival, direct mail appeals and the major donor and planned giving programs; conceive, plan and carry out additional fundraising activities; play a major role in capital campaigns at such time as needed. Graphic Artist: Work with editor to consolidate VHC information sheets into a tri-fold brochure for distribution at VHC events and in the community. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org.

Historian/Archivist: Collect and organize news clippings, posters, flyers and other materials for future use; work with scrap book coordinator to provide items for the VHC scrapbook and Music Festival portfolio. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org.

Mailing Assistant: Assist the Membership Coordinator in assembling materials to be mailed to VHC members, friends, and membership prospects. Duties may include folding inserts, stuffing and sealing envelopes, and affixing mailing labels and postage. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org .

Media Relations: work with Media Coordinator to edit and distribute press releases; follow up and build relationships with media contacts. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org.

Recording Secretary: Assist the Board of Trustees by attending all monthly Board meetings and taking accurate minutes. Responsible for the writing, editing, and distribution of Board minutes. Sales Coordinator: Work with Art Director in ordering and stocking VHC items; coordinate sales of VHC items at events; collect and fill orders from the Web site; forward payments to treasurer; keep inventory of VHC items. Please call (805) 643-8044 or email us at volunteer@venturahillsides.org.
